Latest update on Motion ProCam now enables support on RAW(.dng) format in long exposure shots. This is included in premium features to allow capturing long exposure with higher dynamic range to preserve all information for post processing. Images will be saved in 16-bit .dng format and can be imported into Adobe Lightroom for further editing to bring the most details and the best quality out of the photos.
Motion ProCam uses computational photography approaches to create long exposure without the need of ND filter even in bright daytime condition. Multiple RAW images are captured over the exposure time duration and they will be stacked together into a final composite long exposure.
Along with RAW format, manual exposure control is also enabled as part of pro features. Manual exposure control allows finer control on ISO and shutter speed per frame. “Shutter speed” is set per individual frame only for brightness adjustment, “Exposure Time” will be the overall exposure duration by combining all individual frames. Manual control is recommended only for low light conditions where shutter speed needs to be adjusted to brighten the image.
By shooting in RAW, it provides much better dynamic range, a lot of flexibility in post processing and even cropping in with minimal loss of details.
RAW format can be enabled on camera lens that supports RAW. In most of the high-end Android devices, RAW is supported on the main lens, however, some secondary lens such as ultra-wide lens doesn’t support RAW. Same goes to manual exposure control where it is only available for supported lens.
